Unique-Frequency Is Moving!

May 18, 2008

Hi everyone,

I’ve moved to from tonight. I’m still working out the kinks (many of them) so bear with me while I refrain from updating over the long weekend, and hopefully I’ll be back in business from Tuesday or Wednesday.

The rss feed of the new site is so it would be great if I could trouble you to exercise 2 clicks and update that on your feed reader. If you don’t know how, here’s a friendly little guide.

I should’ve made the switch earlier and everything, but was just held back by a crazy schedule and a bit of inertia, but it’s reached the stage where the incoming linkjuice is too good, and time to move on to a permanent blog before the opportunity cost grows.

I’ll definitely look back fondly on this blog as my first foray into serious blogging and the great people who I’ve discovered or discovered me via the blog, and hope we’ll all maintain that community at the new site.

Thanks for sticking with me through this blog (un-skinned and all). If you know anyone who does killer skins and/or themes, let me know? Thanks.

Where Are The Twitter Journalists?

March 6, 2008

I open my Twitter homepage and see a Tweet of a shooting at Outram MRT from micamonkey

Not that I doubt micamonkey, but I didn’t want to go around telling people about it if it wasn’t true. So I checked out Channel News Asia (our local news channel) and got nothing. (click for larger image)

Channel News Asia

I opened Tweetscan and did a search for Singapore and here’s what turned up:

Tweet Scan

So here’s the question: Why doesn’t Channel News Asia have Twitter Journalists? If they can’t keep up with new media, then traditional media will really be in trouble sooner or later.

Edit @ 22:15:

CNA’s page now shows this:

Note the time posted says 4:55pm? But that’s not what my earlier screencap at 6:45pm says. Are you allowed to edit your timestamp for news as a journalist? Hmm.

Election Social Media: We Are The Ones

March 2, 2008

I posted some time back about’s video on YouTube: Yes We Can in support of Barack Obama in the presidential race. Well’s at it again (picked up from CC Chapman), this time with We Are The Ones.

Maybe I find this particularly interesting because I’m from Singapore and our political scene isn’t as “alive” as America’s, but I think between these videos, the ObamaGirl videos and Twitter activity, it’s just so exciting to just watch this social media phenomenon unfold and just be a part of it, even as a spectator.

But… I’m Not A Porn Site!!

February 15, 2008

Eagle-eyed readers might have noticed a new “Recent Readers” widget on my sidebar from MyBlogLog, and what it does is really create a visual community for everyone who visits the blog.

The interesting thing about this was that when I signed up, the site identified my blog as a porn site! Because of that I couldn’t get the widget up for awhile. The good news is, I submitted an email query, which was answered very well and promptly by their help team, and now it’s good to go.

The takeaways?
1) Provide something that people would want to have like the Recent Readers widget
2) Provide quick and professional help (after all, the Internet isn’t known for its patience)
3) Reap the benefits

PS: Do sign up and be part of my blog’s community. It will be great to know who you are!
